RICO Maierhofer is out for the Asean Basketball League (ABL) season with an MCL injury on his right knee.

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas team owner Charlie Dy said the injury will require four weeks to heal, ruling the former PBA Rookie of the Year out of the team's run in the postseason.

Maierhofer, 32, sustained the injury in Alab’s final elimination round game against CLS Knights two Sundays ago in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Maierhofer on Sunday appeared in Alab’s quarterfinal match against the Saigon Heat, wearing a protective gear on his right knee.

Meanwhile, Josh Urbiztondo is still recovering from a pulled hamstring but Dy believes he will be able to play for Alab Pilipinas if the team reaches the semifinal round.

Alab Pilipinas holds a 1-0 lead over Saigon and can close the best-of-three series out on the road in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.

No. 2 seed and defending champion Hong Kong Eastern awaits in the Final Four.
