Former PBA Rookie of the Year Rico Maierhofer gives Alab frontline a boost in ABL
Rico Maierhofer, 32, is taking his act to the ABL.

RICO Maierhofer has signed up to play for Alab Pilipinas in the coming Asean Basketball League (ABL) season.

Maierhofer, who played for GlobalPort in the PBA last season, joined other members of Alab Pilipinas including fellow PBA veteran Dondon Hontiveros in Tuesday's press launch of the new ABL season.

The team's social media account later confirmed Maierhofer's signing.

The 32-year-old former La Salle big man was the PBA Rookie of the Year in 2010 but had a mostly journeyman career in the pro league where he played for six teams in a span of eight years.

The 6-6 is expected to be a big boost to the frontline of Alab, which will be led by controversial former TNT import Ivan Johnson.
