RENALDO Balkman is set undergo tests after suffering an ankle injury, and coach Jimmy Alapag is keeping his fingers crossed the Alab Pilipinas import will be back on the floor soon.

The Puerto Rican former NBA player had to leave in the first half of Alab’s game against CLS Indonesia on Wednesday night and was not able to return.

"As far as we know it's an ankle sprain but we'll know more tomorrow. But he's a tough guy, I'm sure he'll be alright," said Alapag.

Team owner Charlie Dy said that the initial assessment was a sprained left ankle after Balkman slipped and stepped on his defenders' foot, and is scheduled to see renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. George Canlas on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury.

The 33-year-old forward scored 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds and issued five assists before suffering the injury.

Alab, tied for third at 13-6 with Mono Vampire, finishes its elimination round schedule against the CLS Indonesia on Sunday.

Chongson Kung Fu leads with a 14-5 record followed by Hong Kong Eastern at 12-5.
