SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas suffered its second straight loss in the Asean Basketball League (ABL), bowing to a hot-shooting Chong Son Kung Fu side, 92-79, on Sunday night at the Nanhai Stadium in China.

Fil-American Mikhael McKinney, Justin Howard, and Anthony Tucker set the tone for Chong Son in the lopsided win as the China-based squad remained unbeaten at home and grabbed solo second with a 12-5 win-loss slate.

The loss dropped Alab Pilipinas to fourth place with an 11-6 card, allowing idle Mono Vampire Basketball Club to climb to third spot with a 12-6 slate.

After an eight-game winning streak, Alab lost to Westports Malaysia Dragons, 80-79, last week and continued to struggle on the road against Chong Son.

Chong Son and Alab also split their season series, with Kung Fu getting the edge in terms of tiebreaker if the two teams end up tied in the team standings.

If its any consolation, Alab returns home for its final three games of the elimination round beginning with a Wednesday clash against the Saigon Heat in Davao City.

McKinney hit three triples in the first quarter as Chong Son took a 26-10 lead.

McKinney, who had 30 points in a win against Hong Kong last Friday, ended up with 26 points on 6-of-10 shooting from behind the arc along with 10 assists.

Howard had 25 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks, while Tucker had 23 points and eight assists for Chong Son, which made 35 of its 65 attempts from the field.

Chong Son also went on a 27-14 tear in the third period to widen the gap to 73-56.

Renaldo Balkman had 29 points and eight rebounds while Bobby Ray Parks had 19 points for Alab. Justin Brownlee had 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

The scores:

Chong Son Kung Fu 92 - McKinney 26, Howard 25, Tucker 23, Tiongson 9, He 6, Song 2, Luo 1, Kamiran 0, Mai 0.

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas 79 - Balkman 29, Parks 19, Brownlee 18, Sumalinog 6, Javelona 3, Maierhofer 2, Domingo 2, Urbiztondo 0, Raymundo 0, Hontiveros 0, Alabanza 0.
