SINGAPORE—After setting a scoring record last week, Ray Parks looks to display his passing game in becoming more of a facilitator when Alab Pilipinas plays its first road game in the Asean Basketball League against the Singapore Slingers on Sunday here.

Parks is fresh from a 41-point, 14-rebound effort against the Kaohsiung Truth last week for Alab Pilipinas to become the highest scoring local in the history of the regional basketball league.

But Parks looks to show a different facet of his game in hopes of helping Alab extend its win run against an intense defensive effort from the Slingers on Sunday.

“I need to do whatever it takes para manalo. Kung kailangan, more assists. I’m a willing passer naman,” said Parks after arriving here from Manila on the eve of Alab Pilipinas’ match against Singapore at the OCBC Arena.

Parks was at his best last week when he shot 16-of-20 from the field on his way to breaking the record of 38 points set by Thailand’s Kannut Samerjai of Mono Vampire Club last year.

After the record-setting performance, Parks also wants to set the table for his teammates, whom he believes are capable scorers as well, based on their recent play that led to their two-game win streak after losing to the Slingers on opening day.

“I really believe sa kakayahan ng team. Kung kaya lang namin laruin ‘yung laro namin these past few games, we are in good shape. It’s more of trusting one another and at the same time, hindi lang ako ang iiskor,” said Parks, who is averaging 3.3 assists so far this season.

Alab is looking to avenge its defeat against the Slingers on the road, and Parks believes it is possible with the concerted effort of the entire squad.

“I want everybody to step up kasi kaya naman. We have been studying film. I really believe sa kakayahan ng team,” said Parks.
