Alab remains red-hot on the road, beat Slingers in Singapore for fifth straight win

SAN Miguel-Alab Pilipinas chalked up another win on the road, beating the Singapore Slingers, 82-69, on Sunday in the Asean Basketball League at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

Renaldo Balkman led Alab with 21 points while Joshua Urbiztondo added 17 points behind five three-pointers as the red-hot Philippine side clinched its eighth win in 12 outings.

Alab continued to sizzle on the road in its first game under new sponsor San Miguel Corp., posting its sixth victory away from home - and fifth straight overall.

The Philippine-based side, which was fresh from a thrilling overtime home win over Chong Son Kung Fu, is now just half a game behind third-running Mono Vampire (9-4).

Justin Brownlee finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Ray Parks Jr. came away 16 points as Alab evened its season series with Singapore. Both its victories over the Slingers came away from home.

Alab spoiled the effort of Xavier Alexander, who had a game-high 32 points for the home squad. Fil-Canadian guard AJ Mandani was held to only four points.

After trailing by one at the half, Alab took command in the third quarter to open a 66-54 lead.
