JUSTIN Brownlee took over in overtime to lead Tanduay Alab Pilipinas to an 89-80 win over the Singapore Slingers on Sunday in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

Brownlee finished with 17 points, 29 less than his offensive output in his league debut on Wednesday in an Alab victory over the Westports Malaysia Dragons.

But he set the tone for Alab in the extra period with two quick baskets as the Philippine-based side won its third straight game and evened its win-loss record to 3-3.

Renaldo Balkman had 26 points to lead Alab while Robby Celiz hit a three to put the Philippine squad up, 78-75, with 50.2 seconds left in regulation.

Singapore was able to force overtime following a three by Fil-Am AJ Mandani with 12.2 ticks remaining.

Mandani’s heroics, however, couldn't save the Slingers from falling to 3-5.

After a 0-3 start to the season, Alab has moved up to fourth place - thanks to a timely boost from replacement imports Brownlee and Balkman.

The resident Ginebra import hit back-to-back baskets to give Alab an 82-78 cushion at the start of extra time. He dished off a pass to Balkman for a lay-up before Ray Parks put the game away with a three-point play.

Tanduay Alab led by as many as 10 in the first half, but Hanbin Ng triggered a run that enabled the Slingers to tie the score at 36 at the halftime break.

Parks finished with 11 points and seven rebounds while Lawrence Domingo added nine points and seven rebounds for Alab, which will face Singapore once again on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Former Blackwater import Chris Charles debuted for Singapore with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks.
