Fil-Am Joshua Munzon makes Manila debut in ABL as Alab Pilipinas hosts Saigon Heat
Joshua Munzon is going great guns with Saigon in the ABL.

ALAB Pilipinas looks to get back on the winning track as they face Saigon Heat for the first time this season in the Asean Basketball League on Friday at the Olivarez College Gym in Paranaque City.

Alab Pilipinas is coming off a 93-80 defeat against the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions in Hong Kong over the weekend that ended their three-game winning streak.

The 8 p.m. match will also give Filipino fans their first chance to see Fil-American Joshua Munzon, who is expected to play a big role for Saigon.

Munzon, a product of California State University-Los Angeles, is currently leading the league in steals with 4.2 per contest, and once scored 34 points this season in a game against the Kaohsiung Truth.

The Philippine-based squad was victimized by Hong Kong’s hot shooting as the Long Lions hit 12 triples in the game, five coming from Thai-American Tyler Lamb.

But Alab Pilipinas head coach Mac Cuan is not losing faith in his wards even as the team dropped to third place with a 5-3 win-loss record following the loss to the Lions.

“I still have confidence in this team,” said Cuan. “I’ll take that game. Next time, we will be ready. It wasn’t just our night."
