Alab Pilipinas closes in on ABL leaders after emphatic home win over Formosa

SANTA ROSA, Laguna - San Miguel Alab Pilipinas extended its winning streak to eight on Sunday night after dominating the Formosa Dreamers, 117-93, in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.

Alab Pilipinas improved to 11-4 to press its bid for one of the two outright berths in the semifinals.

Justin Brownlee had 27 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and four blocks in an all-around effort while Renaldo Balkman added 21 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and a game-high five blocks for Alab.

Except for an early 5-2 Formosa lead, Alab Pilipinas was hardly threatened and led by as many as 26 points at one point to the delight of a huge crowd at the Sta. Rosa complex.

Tension rose late in the game as Oping Sumalinog and Pao Javelona were involved in physical incidents against the visiting Taiwanese side.

Lawrence Domingo added 16 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, while Bobby Ray Parks Jr. had 15 points for the hosts.

Cameron Forte had 29 points and 21 rebounds, while Ronnie Aguilar added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Dreamers, who dropped to 1-14.
