MONO Vampire Basketball Club defeated Singapore Slingers, 85-82, on Friday to take Game One of the Asean Basketball League quarterfinals at the Stadium 29 in Bangkok.
Samuel Deguara had 21 points while local Darongpan Apiromvilaichai had 19 markers for Mono Vampire in capturing the best-of-three series opener.
Michael Singletary and Paul Zamar chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively, for Mono, which got 12 assists from Jason Brickman.
Chris Charles had 26 points and 23 rebounds, as Xavier Alexander had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists for Singapore, which led by as many as 10 points in the game.
Game Two is on Sunday at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
Meanwhile, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas hopes to sweep the quarterfinal series.
