THE Pacquiao Powervit Pilipinas Aguilas beat Thailand-based Mono Vampire Basketball Club, 79-78, on Thursday to open their campaign in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the University of Southern Philippines (USEP) gym in Davao City.
AZ Reid scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Charles Mammie added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Aguilas. Willie Miller added 12 points for the debuting Philippine side.
The victory completed a double for team backer Manny Pacquiao, who, just hours earlier, sat on the Letran bench to see the Knights beat San Beda in overtime, 85-82, to lift the NCAA men's basketball title.
