    Malaysia Dragons come over for tune-ups against Gilas, UAAP teams as part of ABL buildup

    AS part of their buildup for the upcoming Asean Basketball League season, the Westports Malaysia Dragons have scheduled tune-up games in the Philippines against a Gilas Pilipinas which is set to plunge into action in the upcoming Fiba-Asia Cup in Wuhan, China.

    Malaysia Dragons head coach Ariel Vanguardia said the team will also play against Far Eastern University, National University, and University of Santo Tomas in the next few days in preparation for the ABL season set to open on July 16.

    The Dragons will take on Gilas on Sunday night in a tune-up which also forms part of the national team's preparation for the Fiba-Asia Cup slated July 11-19 in Wuhan.

    Gilas Pilipinas is also set to compete in the Fiba World Cup in Spain from August 30 to September 14 and the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from September 17 to October 4.

    The Philippine national team, however, will have a different lineup for the Fiba-Asia Cup that includes Jay Washington of Globalport, Paul Lee and Beau Belga of Rain or Shine, and cadets Kevin Alas and Garvo Lanete.

    They replaced Larry Fonacier and Jayson Castro of Talk ‘N Text, Marc Pingris of San Mig Coffee, and Jeff Chan and Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine.
