MAC Cuan gets the biggest break in his budding coaching career after being tapped to handle the Alab Pilipinas team in the coming new season of the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
The former point guard out of La Salle brings with him a vast coaching knowledge culled from years of serving as deputy to champion mentors such as Leo Austria, Pido Jarencio and Gee Abanilla.
This will be Cuan's second stint in the ABL after serving as one of Austria's assistants when San Miguel won the league title on 2013 behind a team backstopped by Asi Taulava and Chris Banchero.
He previously acted as deputy to Abanilla with La Salle and Jarencio with Globalpprt in the PBA.
Charlie Dy, co-team owner of Alab Pilipinas along with Dondon Monteverde, confirmed Cuan has already been in-charge of conducting team practices two weeks before the new season gets underway.
Cage great Jerry Codinera was the original choice to handle Alab Pilipinas. But an earlier commitment to handle a ballclub in the PBA D-League forced him to beg off from taking the job.
