A LETHARGIC San Miguel Alab Pilipinas on Wednesday saw its three-game win streak snapped at the hands of Macau Black Bears, 116-103, in the 2019 Asean Basketball League (ABL) at University of Macau Sports Complex.
Fil-Am swingman Mikh McKinney torched the defending champions with 40 points on a 5-of-8 shooting clip from threes, on top of three assists, and two rebounds to lead from the front in the Black Bears' 13-point victory.
Alab was just out of it from the onset as Macau went on a 16-4 opening assault and led, 38-11, after the first quarter. They never looked back to avenge a 106-99 loss to the Philippine side last Jan. 18.
It was all Black Bears from there, with Ryan Watkins giving his side a 31-point advantage, 76-45, with a fadeaway midway through the third quarter.
Anthony Tucker added 25 points, 15 assists, five boards, and two steals, while Watkins tallied a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Tian Zhongtian contributed 10 points and four rebounds off the bench as Macau stretched its winning run to four and rose to an 11-7 slate.
Renaldo Balkman gave it his all for Alab as he fired 33 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, but couldn't save Alab from its fourth loss in 20 games this season.
PJ Ramos contributed 19 points, 14 rebounds, three rejections, and two assists, as Bobby Ray Parks had 18 points, six assists, two boards, and two steals.
Although already assured of a playoff berth, Alab continued to struggle on the road at 5-4. It continues its road trip on Sunday this time against the Singapore Slingers.
