JOSHUA Munzon has been released by the Saigon Heat in a stunning move at a time when the Fil-American guard is going great guns with the Asean Basketball League squad.

The ABL website confirmed on Tuesday the Heat have let go of Munzon and named Moses Morgan in his place as the Vietnam-based side's Asean heritage import.

The move comes at a time when the 6-4 guard is averaging 18.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and a league-best 4.1 steals through seven games with the Heat.

However, the Heat have won just one of those seven games, their most recent loss coming at the hands of Alab Pilipinas, 99-77, on Friday night at the Olivarez Sports Center.

Munzon had 20 points and four steals in that game - his first in the Philippines since taking his act to the ABL.

But even in defeat, Munzon has managed to impress members of Alab Pilipinas who felt the former California State University-Los Angeles standout has what it takes to shine in the PBA.

At posting time, no reason has been given by Saigon on the decision to let Munzon go.
