PBA journeyman guard Josh Urbiztondo will be the new heritage import of the Singapore Slingers, bringing experience and savvy to the Asean Basketball League (ABL) side.
The nine-year PBA veteran signed with the Slingers, league officials confirmed on Wednesday, following his stint with GlobalPort in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The Slingers opted to bring in Urbiztondo after previously having Alli Austria and Rolando Gardner as their heritage imports, a term used by the league for foreign-based players of Southeast Asian descent.
Urbiztondo is expected to give the Slingers an added threat in scoring, following the injury of long-time Singapore import Justin Howard.
The Filipino-American was left undrafted in 2009 but played for seven different PBA teams in a journeyman career, namely Sta. Lucia, Air21, B-Meg, Barako Bull, Barangay Ginebra, Phoenix and GlobalPort.
