COACH Jimmy Alapag is glad to see Josh Urbiztondo regain his rhythm and hopes the veteran guard will be able to sustain it as Alab Pilipinas looks to retake the lead in the ABL Finals against Mono Vampire.
Scoreless in five out of the last six games upon his return from a hamstring injury sustained late in the regular season, Urbiztondo came up with a solid performance on Wednesday night in Game Two, scoring 14 points while going 4-of-8 from beyond the three-point line.
Alab allowed Mono Vampire to level the series, but Alapag is nevertheless pleased as they try to get back on track as the series shifts to Bangkok.
“Josh played great. We needed somebody out there to come out and make shots. It’s been a little bit of a slow recovery for him from his hamstring injury against Saigon,” said Alapag.
“It was great seeing him come out and make shots for us. We’ll need that the rest of the series.”
Urbiztondo is also glad to be able to perform at a high level once again, saying he is now pain-free.
“It’s always good to have your legs back after an injury. Sayang that we didn’t get this win but it’s alright. We will make our adjustments and hopefully get Game Three,” Urbiztondo said.
“I felt good out there. My legs feel good and hopefully, we could play well and get up 2-1,” Urbiztondo said.
