JIMMY Alapag looked good in a coat and slacks in his head-coaching debut for Tanduay Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).

He won't have it any other way.

Instead of the usual polo shirt fans are used to seeing from ABL coaches, Alapag showed up on Sunday for Alab's game against reigning champion Hong Kong with a dapper look embellished by Louis Vitton belt.

When asked about his fashion choice, Alapag said he wanted to look good as the coach of a team that represented the Philippines.

"Being the head coach of a team that is representing the country, I want to make sure that here at home or traveling on the road, I want us to be represented well," said Alapag.

"Just making sure that you dress accordingly is just as important," he added.

His assistant coaches, Mac Cuan and Danny Seigle, and the rest of the Alab staff also dressed the part, showing up in matching white long-sleeved outfits.

Alab also looked good in its debut, but clutch baskets by Fil-German Christian Standhardinger enabled Hong Kong Eastern to put away a 92-89 win.

So, will Alapag wear a coat again in the next games?

"Maybe," said Alapag with a smile. "Hopefully, we will win so it will be a better look for our team."
