    Jerick Canada leads from front as Hi-Tech Bangkok moves within a win of ABL title

    JERICK Canada scored a game-high 23 points as Hi-Tech Bangkok City defeated Westports Malaysia Dragons, 93-77, to move within a win of the 2014 Asean Basketball League (ABL) crown in Kuala Lumpur.

    The former Adamson cager got support from fellow import Chris Charles, who scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Bangkok stole a win on the road in the best-of-three championship series.

    Bangkok, coached by Filipino Jing Ruiz, can claim its first ABL title in the team’s debut season when it hosts Malaysia in Game Two on Tuesday at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Thailand.

    Wutipong Dasom scored 21 points and former PBA import Steve Thomas chipped in 11 points and 19 rebounds for Bangkok, which also got 11 markers from another Filipino import, Patrick Cabahug.

    Fil-Tongan Moala Tautuaa had 19 points for the Dragons, mentored by 2014 Coach of the Year Ariel Vanguardia.
