HONG KONG Eastern survived Formosa, 93-91, on Saturday night in the Asean Basketball League at the Changhua Stadium in Taiwan.
In a battle between the top and bottom teams in the league, it was the league-leading Hong Kong Eastern which came out as winner, posting its 12th victory in 14 games.
Marcus Elliott had 31 points, six rebounds, and seven assists, Tyler Lamb had 29 points and eight rebounds, and Fil-German Christian Standhardinger had 16 points and 10 rebounds for HK Eastern.
Elliott converted a three-pointer with 1:11 left in the fourth as Eastern took a 92-88 lead, while Lamb hit one of two free throws with 52 seconds left for a five-point cushion.
Sung Wei Wu converted a triple with 43 seconds to play but it was the Dreamers’ last stand as they failed to take a shot in the final possession.
Cameron Forte had 31 points and 12 rebounds, while Ronnie Aguilar chipped in 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Dreamers, who fell to their 15th loss in 16 games.
The Dreamers tied the game at 79 on a basket by Aguilar to give Eastern a scare.
