FORMER San Beda Red Lion Julius Armon has signed up with the Westports Malaysia Dragons in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).

Coach Ariel Vanguardia has confirmed that the Fil-Am swingman will suit up for the Dragons starting in Friday’s game against the Singapore Slingers to take the place of the injured Patrick Cabahug.

Vanguardia said the Dragons have been interested in signing up Armon ever since.

“Nag-tryout dati sa LA ‘yun nung July. Okay naman pinakita niya but we (already) had Patrick,” said Vanguardia, recalling the first time he saw Armon try out for the team.

The former Jose Rizal University coach believes Armon will be a perfect fit as replacement for Cabahug.

“He reminds me of a young Cabahug. Just more athletic,” Vanguardia said.

Armon left San Beda prior to the 2012 season as he tried his luck in the US. He was also once eyed by Boracay Rum to play in the PBA D-League.
