Malaysia Dragons' Fil-Canadian guard Matthew Wright named Best Asean import of ABL season

KUALA LUMPUR — Fil-Canadian Matthew Wright was named Best Asean/Heritage import of the 2015-2016 season of the Asean Basketball League (ABL).

The 25-year-old Wright, who played for St. Bonaventure in the NCAA Division I, led all Asean imports, averaging 23.1 points per game in leading the Dragons to the top-seeding in the semifinals.

Wright received the award before Game Two of the ABL finals between the Dragons and the Singapore Slingers at the MABA Stadium.

Reggie Johnson of the Westports Malaysia Dragons was named Best World Import, while Chris Charles, among those considered by Blackwater in the PBA last year, was given the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Wong Wei Long of the Singapore Slingers was awarded with the local Most Valuable Player trophy while Neo Beng Siang was named Coach of the Year.
