SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season, bowing to Macau Black Bears anew, 114-84, Friday night in the 2019 ASEAN Basketball League at Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center in China.
Fil-Am guard Mikh McKinney was once again the biggest thorn in the side of the defending champions as he fired 43 points, eight assists, and five rebounds to compound the woes of the banged-up Philippine crew.
Import Dewarick Spencer also dropped 42 points, nine rebounds, and five assists to steer Macau to the 30-point blowout - and fifth place with a 13-11 record.
Not even the return of Caelan Tiongson from a sprained ankle could help Alab in this road game as they missed the services of Renaldo Balkman for the second straight game due to a concussion.
PJ Ramos tried to be the rock for the Filipinos with his 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, but looked in dire need of support.
Josh Urbiztondo scored 16 points built on five treys in the first half as Alab took an early 18-5 lead. But the veteran guard was held scoreless in the last two quarters while Macau turned it around by shooting 54 percent from the field.
Bobby Ray Parks got 12 points and eight rebounds, but shot a paltry 1-of-6 clip from downtown as Alab dropped to 18-6 win-loss - and 6-6 card on the road.
Alab goes back to the Philippines on Sunday when it faces Formosa Dreamers for the fourth time this season.
Macau shook off a slow start and went on to score at least 30 points in the ensuing quarters to become only the second team to beat San Miguel Alab Pilipinas twice this season after the Dreamers.
The Black Bears also smashed the Philippine side, 116-103, in their Feb. 27 meeting in Macau.
Macau local Jenning Leung chipped in 12 points, three boards, and two assists, as Ryan Watkins took care of the paint by hauling down 16 rebounds to go with his three blocks and four points.
The scores:
MACAU BLACK BEARS 114 - McKinney 43, Spencer 42, Leung 12, Tian 5, Watkins 4, King 5, Liu 3, Lai 0, Un 0, Chan 0.
SAN MIGUEL ALAB PILIPINAS 84 - Ramos 24, Urbiztondo 16, Parks 12, Rivero 10, Alvano 8, Torres 5, Tiongson 4, Javelona 3, Sumalinog 2.
