CITY OF SANTA ROSA - Joshua Munzon took the life out of Alab Pilipinas in overtime to lift the Westports Malaysia Dragons to a 101-91 victory on Sunday night in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the brand-new Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex here.
The Fil-American guard had 25 points along with seven steals while playing his best in the extra period after Malaysia import Skylar Spencer fouled out to lift the last-place Dragons to a big victory on the road.
The Dragons improved to 4-13.
Bobby Ray Parks Jr. scored 27 points while Robby Celiz had 13 points as the two helped Alab Pilipinas recover from a 10-point deficit with 1:44 left in regulation, only to fall apart again in overtime.
Although Alab remained in third place, the Philippine side fell to 9-7 after falling for the second time in their past three games.
Munzon's heroics came as a dampener on a special day that started with the brand-new venue being blessed in the morning before hosting an ABL match in the evening.
In the end, Munzon was rewarded with his first victory in the Philippines.
