KUALA LUMPUR - The Westports Malaysia Dragons and the Singapore Slingers clash one final time for the 2015-2016 Asean Basketball League championship Saturday at the MABA Stadium here.
The decisive Game Five of the finals is set at 2:30 p.m. (both Malaysia and Philippine time) and will be aired live on Basketball TV.
The best-of-five series is tied at 2-2 as the Slingers won at home the last time, 75-73, on a buzzer-beater by local Most Valuable Player Wong Wei Long to force a rubber match here in the Malaysian capital.
Playing at home, however, is not a sure-fire win for the Dragons as the Slingers won on the road here by taking Game One of the series, 84-80.
"We have to be smarter the next time especially in the end game," said Dragons head coach Ariel Vanguardia, who will lean on imports Reggie Johnson and Calvin Godfrey, and Fil-foreigners Matthew Wright and Jason Brickman to lead the charge for his team.
Aside from Wei Long's heroics, Singapore also got a big lift from Xavier Alexander and Justin Howard, who avoided foul troubles in Game Four to tie the series.
The Slingers will need the presence of their imports and locals to pull off another win on the road.
"We need to play disciplined basketball and play the game of our lives," said Neo Beng Siang, coach of the Slingers.
