A BRIGHT future awaits Christian Standhardinger once he suits up for powerhouse San Miguel in the PBA, but he was in no mood to look ahead on Sunday night.
Atleast not at the moment.
For Standhardinger, not even the prospect of joining the country's premier franchise could ease the pain of Hong Kong Eastern's heartbreaking 79-72 defeat at the hands of Alab Pilipinas, a squad which is ironically backed by San Miguel Corp.
"I'm very honored that I have a very close connection to the fans and the Filipino people and I cherish that but I'm not gonna talk about myself, my future career," said Standhardinger who got a warm reception from the Filipino crowd at the Sta. Rosa Multipurpose Complex on Sunday evening.
"After a loss like this, with all my heart believed that we can win the championship. I dont want to talk about myself," he added.
Standhardinger finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the loss as the defending champions came crashing out at the semifinal stage.
The 6-8 Fil-German sensation was so dejected after the match as he felt that the team had what it takes to repeat as champions.
"They played very good and with a high intensity. I am proud to be part of the team, of the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions. Everything was professional and it was a family," said Standhardinger.
"Me personally, I feel like we could have won the whole thing and with a heavy heart I continue my journey."
