CHRISTIAN Standhardinger has been named top Heritage Import in the first week of the Asean Basketball League.
The Fil-German had 26 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals in Hong Kong Eastern’s 92-89 victory over Tanduay Alab Pilipinas in his first game in the Philippines at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Standhardinger beat Fil-American Caelan Tiongson of Chongson Kung Fu and Freddie Goldstein of CLS Knights Indonesia for the citation.
The top pick by San Miguel in the 2017 PBA Draft broke the hearts of Alab Pilipinas fans after hitting back-to-back baskets late in the game as Hong Kong Eastern preserved the win.
Standhardinger was relieved to get the big win, especially since Hong Kong will have a long break before facing CLS Knights Indonesia on December 3.
“Can you imagine if we lose this game, and you have two weeks of no game. Two weeks you’ll be saying, we lost the game. I don’t like that,” said the 28-year-old Standhardinger.
