    Fil-Am McKinney drops 30 as Chong Son Kung Fu stuns Hong Kong Eastern

    CHONG Son Kung Fu came away with a huge bopst to its semifinal bid on Friday night after defeating top-seed Hong Kong Eastern, 94-85, in the Asean Basketball League at the Nanhai Gymnasium.

    Fil-American guard Mikhael McKinney had 30 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in the victory by Chong Son, which is now tied at second place with San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the team standings with an 11-5 record.

    Incidentally, Chong Son will face Alab Pilipinas at home on Sunday in a crucial match for the semis berth.

    The top two teams at the end of the elimination move to the semifinals and will await the two winners of the playoff matches of the third to sixth placed squads.

    Justin Howard had 22 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks, while Anthony Tucker added 17 points for Chong Son.

    Despite the loss, Hong Kong remained on top of the team standings with a 12-3 record.

    Marcus Elliott and Ryan Moss had 24 and 17 points respectively, while Fil-German Christian Standhardinger had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Hong Kong.
