STA. ROSA, Laguna – San Miguel Alab Pilipinas kept its unbeaten slate after beating the Formosa Dreamers, 86-72, on Friday night in the Asean Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.
The reigning champions went on a late 13-0 blast to recover from a lackluster start and pull away from the Dreamers on the way to their third win in as many games this season.
Renaldo Balkman had another double-double while Ethan Alvano played a key role in that crucial run by Alab, who ends its year on Sunday night when it goes up against the Singapore Slingers at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
Balkman had 19 points and 20 rebounds while Alvano had four assists and four points, all coming in that key run that enabled Alab to turn a four-point deficit into a 78-69 spread.
In all, Alab beat Formosa behind a 21-3 finishing kick.
PJ Ramos added 16 points and seven rebounds, Bobby Ray Parks had 13 points, and Paolo Javelona had 11 points for Alab Pilipinas.
Malcolm Miller had 23 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists while William Artino added 14 points and 12 rebounds for Formosa, which dropped its second straight contest after going 6-0 to start the season.
