SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas owner Charlie Dy assured the team will be ready for the playoffs despite a recent slide near the end of the elimination round.
Alab has lost three straight games including a recent home match against the Formosa Dreamers that dropped them to second place with an 18-7 record. Sunday’s 88-74 loss to Formosa was the first for Alab at its home floor.
Dy, however, said the team is unperturbed by the situation that things will turn around for Alab.
“We lost three straight games but we are not out and we’ll be ready for the playoffs,” said Dy in a recent social media post.
Although the team has already clinched a playoff berth, fans have been alarmed by the recent slide. Fans have called for Alab to add a third import to join Renaldo Balkman and PJ Ramos. A new rule was installed this season that allows a team to add a third World Import, a luxury that all teams used this season.
Observers have also asked for changes to the line-up especially with Lawrence Domingo, one of the top players of Alab, sidelined with an MCL injury that will keep him out for the rest of the eliminations.
Dy explained Alab is no longer allowed to add a third World import as the team has already reached the maximum salary cap for their current imports.
Dy added Alab is also not allowed to make changes in the roster as the deadline to change rosters has already lapsed.
“We wanted to add another import but we’ve maxed our salary cap with Balkman and Ramos that’s why we’re playing with two imports,” said Dy.
“There’s also a deadline to change players and all our players got injured after the deadline,” said Dy.
