ALAB Pilipinas chose to rest the players than hold practice as they as they prepare to take on the Malaysia Dragons on Sunday in the Asean Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa Arena in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The team won over the Saigon Heat on Friday in Vietnam, took an early flight back to Manila on Saturday and will not practice before the game against the Dragons./
“I have to give my players rest. Hindi biro ‘yung travel, nakakapagod,” said Alab Pilipinas coach Mac Cuan.
Alab is looking to get back at the lowly Dragons, who pulled off a two-point win in their game last month.
The Philippine-based team, coming off a four-point win over the Saigon Heat, looks to get a win run going after earlier suffering back-to-back losses and hopes they can do it without holding practice.
“That’s a quick turnaround. After a Friday game, we have a game on Sunday night. It’s very important ‘yung rest in between the two games,” said Cuan.
“We just have to be consistent with our effort. We have to make stops,” said Cuan.
Alab Pilipinas player Robby Celiz said the players have to do their part in adjusting to the team’s travel schedule this weekend.
“Kailangan lang mag-focus kahit na sobrang pagod ng biyahe. Ngayon lang ako naka-experience ng ganito. Nakakapagod talaga pero trabaho naming ’to. Pagdating sa court, kailangan ready lang kami,” said Cuan.
