Alab Pilipinas eyes fourth straight win as it takes on Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions

Jan 21, 2017

ALAB Pilipinas looks to make it four victories in a row on Sunday when it faces the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions in the Asean Basketball League at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The Philippine-based club faces another tough test as it takes on Hong Kong for the first time at 8 p.m. with the winner taking solo second place in the team standings.

Alab passed a tough test last week when it played two games in three days, including a road game in Malaysia where they beat the Westports Malaysia Dragons, 65-54, in Cyberjaya.

Ray Parks Jr. has been anchoring Alab in the winning streak and has been named ABL Player of the Week. The former NBA D-League player is averaging 22.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in the ABL.

Alab is also starting to get significant contributions from other local players led by JR Cawaling, who topscored for the squad with 11 points in the win over the Dragons.

The match against Hong Kong will not be a picnic, however, as the erstwhile solo leader looks to bounce back from a 82-72 loss to Singapore last week.

Hong Kong Eastern import Marcus Elliot, averaging 26.5 points, is again expected to score the bulk of the points for the Long Lions.

Tyler Lamb is also expected to play a big role for the Long Lions after scoring 20 points against the Slingers.
