ALAB Pilipinas picked up its first win on Sunday in the 2016-2017 Asean Basketball League (ABL) by beating Kaohsiung Truth, 91-82, at the Baliwag Star Arena in Bulacan.
Lawrence Domingo had 21 points for the Philippine squad, which was quick to atone after losing its home opener to the Singapore Slingers last week at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan City.
Bobby Ray Parks had 30 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks, but Alab needed the spark from Domingo to peel away from a winless Kaohsiung side that refused to go away without a fight.
Alab, playing it its first season in the regional league, trailed for most of the first half and needed a late run sparked by Domingo to wrest a slim 42-41 lead at the halftime break.
Parks and Domingo then combined in another third-quarter attack that enabled the Philippine side to gain some separation from its fellow ABL newcomer, 56-47.
The Truth, who fell to 0-3, got 13 points from newly acquired Filipino point guard Mikee Reyes.
