AN aggressive Ray Parks set the tone early as Tanduay Alab Pilipinas dominated the Mono Vampire Basketball Club, 114-87 on Sunday night in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at Stadium 29 in Bangkok.
Parks scored a season-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists. He had 10 points in the first quarter to pave the way for a victory against one of the most prolific teams in the regional league.
The 27-point victory tied the highest winning margin in the league this season, equaling Chong Son Kung Fu's margin of victory in a win over the Formosa Dreamers early in the season.
Justin Brownlee scored 29 points for Alab Pilipinas, which got back on the winning track after a loss at home to the Singapore Slingers and climbed back to .500 with a 4-4 (win-loss) record.
Back-to-back triples gave Alab a 15-7 lead and the Philippine-based squad never looked back in a road game where it opened leads as big as 33 points.
Mono was coming off a 115-111 victory over the Westports Malaysia Dragons on Friday but its guns were misfiring for a better part of the match.
Brownlee and Parks got plenty of support as three other Alab players scored in double figures. Josh Urbiztondo had 17 points, Renaldo Balkman added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists while Pamboy Raymundo contributed 10 points in 12 minutes off the bench.
The visitors also dominated the assists department, 32-8.
Former TNT and Gilas Pilipinas import Mike Singletary had 24 points for Mono Vampire while Paul Zamar added 20. The two also combined for four of just five treys for the Thai side.
