SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas battles CLS Knights Indonesia in its final elimination round game in the Asean Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.

    Gametime is at 8 p.m.

In fourth place with a 13-6 record, Alab seeks to tie Mono Vampire Basketball Club (14-6) for third at the close of its elimination round campaign.

Alab will end up on top in case of a tie and will gain the third seed in the quarterfinal round where it will meet sixth-seed Saigon Heat.

There is also a slim chance Alab Pilipinas can secure one of the two outright semifinal berths with Chong Son Kung Fu in first place at 14-5, and Hong Kong Eastern in second at 13-5.

Alab is playing the Knights for the second straight game. The Philippine-based squad beat CLS, 84-67, in Caloocan on Wednesday night.

“I told them in the locker room countless times in the season how much I’m proud of them and (Wednesday night) was one of the best examples of it,” said Alab coach Jimmy Alapag.

Renaldo Balkman escaped a major injury, suffered a mild sprain in his left foot after landing on a foot of a CLS Knights defender.

At 5-14 and already out of contention for a quarterfinal berth, CLS Knights are looking to close out their maiden campaign in the ABL on a bright note.
