Singapore Slingers out to make homecourt edge count in Game 3 of ABL Finals

SINGAPORE — The Singapore Slingers look to capitalize on homecourt advantage when the 2016 Asean Basketball League (ABL) best-of-five-title series resumes with Game Three against Westports Malaysia Dragons on Friday night at the OCBC Arena.

The Slingers and the Dragons collide at 8 p.m., which will be shown live on Basketball TV in the Philippines.

Despite losing Game Two in Kuala Lumpur last week, the Slingers remained confident about their title chances after stealing homecourt edge by taking the series opener, 84-80, against the top-seed Dragons.

“I think it’s good we came out [from Malaysia] with at least a win,” said Singapore's Fil-American guard Kris Rosales. “We would have liked to win two but one is better than none. So now, we have two home games, we will take it game-by-game.”

Meanwhile, the Dragons are motivated to take back the homecourt edge, or if possible win the title in Singapore. The Dragons salvaged a split at home with an 83-67 victory in Game Two at the MABA Stadium with Filipino-American guard Jason Brickman putting up 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

“I felt that the Slingers were satisfied that they got one win already,” said Westports Malaysia Dragons coach Ariel Vanguardia. “That’s their mission. So we have to get back that homecourt advantage again.”
