RHENZ Abando came out on top in his first face-off with Carl Tamayo, as the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang held off the Changwon LG Sakers' late charge to take the 70-62 win on Wednesday at Changwon Gymnasium.
Abando top-scored for the visitors with 18 points to go with two rebounds, two blocks, and one assist to help Anyang move up to 4-2 in the 2025-26 Korean Basketball League (KBL) season.
His 10 third quarter points were pivotal in the Red Boosters taking a 62-41 lead entering the final frame, building enough cushion to survive the Sakers' late 21-point fightback.
Tamayo, for his part, had 19 points, two boards, two dimes, and one steal, as Changwon saw its three-game win streak snapped to fall to 3-2.
Navarro gets one over Tolentino
William Navarro also came out on top in his duel against Arvin Tolentino, as the Busan KCC Egis earned the 75-67 conquest of Seoul SK Knights on Monday at Jamsil Student Gymnasium.
The former Magnolia forward only had two points and one assist in 12 minutes of play, but the rest of his teammates picked up the slack, as Busan claimed back-to-back wins and moved up to 3-1.

Tolentino, for his part, notched 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, and one steal, but Seoul slipped to its third consecutive defeat after starting the season 2-0.
Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus then kept the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus winless after an 82-77 home victory at Dongcheon Gymnasium in Tuesday.
Migs Oczon shot 3-of-7 from distance for his 11 points, on top of five assists and one rebound, as Ulsan snapped a two-game losing skid.
SJ Belangel's 24 points, three dimes, and one rebound were not enough, as Daegu remained at the cellar through five games.
