CENTRO Escolar University defeated Lyceum, 64-49, on Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the San Juan Arena.
No one scored in double figures for the Scorpions, but 13 of the 14 players fielded managed to score and help the team pull off the victory in their first assignment.
Aaron Jeruta scored nine points, all on 3-poiners, while Rodrigue Ebondo grabbed 14 rebounds for the Scorpions.
CEU scored just four points in the first quarter but overpowered the Pirates, 24-13, in the second frame.
Jebb Bulawan led all scorers with 14 points and six rebounds for the Pirates under new head coach Topex Robinson.
