COMMISSIONER Eric Altamirano is very pleased as Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 League follows the big leagues in getting back into action, with its President's Cup tipping off next week at Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
"Actually, ang main goal talaga namin is to restart sports," said Altamirano.
"Hopefully through this, we'd be able to inspire other leagues to be able to start also."
Although games will be held behind closed doors, fan presence will still be felt through the LED boards around the court as the 3x3 league will also welcome virtual fans via the Microsoft Teams app, following the leads of the NBA and the PBA.
Links will be posted on their social media accounts, with it being in a first come, first served basis.
Twelve teams will tussle in the five-leg President's Cup, with the first leg opening on October 21 and the Grand Finals, with a P1 million cash prize up for grabs, scheduled on October 31.
Family’s Brand Sardines-Zamboanga City Chooks led by Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol, are without a doubt the favorites as the opposition will be raring to knock them down from their throne.
As the case in the other leagues, strict health protocols will be observed.
"We will still be practicing our minimum health standards inside the bubble, so handshakes and high fives are discouraged during the conduct of the games inside the bubble. Babantayan po namin yung mobility and galaw ng mga players and all stakeholders," said league doctor Butch Ong.
Non-playing members of the team are also required to observe social distancing while wearing face masks and shields during the games.
"Even within the bubble, kahit na secure na siya and technically it’s free from illnesses and nag-double and triple testing as well as quarantine pa before, we will still be performing and conducting minimal health standards," said Ong.
