Willie Miller is set to compete against 63 of the best streetball players from all over the world in the King of the Rock 1-on-1 world finals in Serbia.

TWO-time PBA MVP Willie Miller took the place of 2016 King of the Rock national champion Robbie Herndon after the Filipino-American decided to step down as the Philippines’ first representative to the world finals to be held later this year in Serbia.

King of the Rock is the world’s largest and most prestigious annual 1-on-1 street basketball tournament. In its debut season in the Philippines, King of the Rock held qualifiers in the cities of Cebu, Caloocan, and Quezon. At the national finals, the top 24 players battled in intense single-elimination rounds with Herndon eventually taking home the crown after slugging it out in the final game with Miller.

However, the former NCAA Division II player for San Francisco State University opted to focus on pursuing a basketball career in the PBA after playing in the D-League last year and training with pro squads like Rain or Shine, Alaska, and Kia.

With Herndon applying for this year's PBA Rookie Draft, King of the Rock runner-up Miller is more than ready to step up and represent the country. The nine-time PBA All-Star has proven during his 14-year PBA career that he has the moves and mentality of a champion.

Both men have expressed nothing but support for each other despite the change. Miller has offered to mentor the potential pick for the upcoming draft while Herndon has volunteered to be the PBA alumnus’ training partner when he prepares for the streetball competition.

At the culmination of this season’s King of the Rock, Miller will play with the signature Filipino passion and pride against 63 of the best streetball players from all over the world.
