ERIDANUS Sta. Rosa and Muntinlupa Chiefs hurdled their first matches at the start of the National Basketball League-Pilipinas Chairman’s Cup 2023 at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex recently.
Sta. Rosa defeated its fellow Laguna team Tatak Gel Binan, 104-99, while Muntinlupa downed Makati Circus, 102-96, to start their campaign in the new conference with victories.
Lester Maurillo poured 30 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals for Eridanus Sta. Rosa which posted its first-ever win in the league.
Francis Abarcar had 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals as he made key plays in the end game for the Chiefs.
Muntinlupa looks to grab the early lead in the team standings as it faces the Zambales Eruption in the resumption of the conference on Friday, 5 p.m. at the JILCF Gymnasium in Bocaue, Bulacan.
In the other game, Camsur Express makes its debut against Tatak Gel Binan at 7 p.m.
