NEW York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe is in the country for a whirlwind visit that gave him the chance to visit the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) posted photos of Volpe and his family’s visit to the historic baseball field where Yankees legends Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played in December 1934 when the Philippines was still under American rule.
Volpe, a Gold Glove winner in 2023, has Filipino roots as he is born to a Filipina mother.

Volpe struck a pose infront of the RMBS scoreboard located at center field and at the right field wall area where the name of Ruth is displayed to mark a home run that he hit on December 2, 1934.
During the visit, PABA president Boy Tingzon presented Volpe with a Philippines baseball cap that was worn by the national team in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

PABA said Tingzon invited Volpe to play for the national team in the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan in September.
The baseball federation said Volpe responded with a, ‘Yes, why not?’
Volpe’s visit at the hallowed baseball ground was made possible by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick Gregorio.
