METS rookie shortstop Wilmer Flores stayed on the field and bravely played on but failed to hold back tears as rumors spread on Wednesday in New York (Thursday, Manila time) he was possibly be going to be part of a trade to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fans at Citi Field gave the Venezuelan a standing ovation as he prepared to bat against the San Diego Padres in the seventh inning and he wiped away tears as he warmed up before the eighth.

The Mets have reportedly completed a deal for Carlos Gomez from Milwaukee in a trade that would possibly include infielder Wilmer Flores.

It was surprising why Flores wasn't pulled from the game when it was reported the deal had been completed.

General Manager Sandy Alderson later denied any trade, according to ESPN New York. The Padres beat the Mets, 7-3. Bleacher report said the deal fell through because of medical reasons.
