BASEBALL hotbed Tanauan City got off to an auspicious start across several divisions on the first day of the Little League Philippine Series in Marikina City.
Tanauan won over Sta. Rosa, Laguna, 22-1, in little league play before beating Zambales, 19-12, in the junior league to start their respective title retention bids on a high note on Monday.
Over at the Sto. Niño field, the city’s big league baseball team also stunned defending champion Muntinlupa, 11-0.
Meanwhile, Manila South blanked Kalinga, 7-0, in a rousing start by the 2012 world champion in the big league softball division over at the Marikina Sports Center.
Reigning junior league softball titlist Iloilo beat Makati, 11-1.
