THE Philippines booked a spot in the super round of the 14th East Asia Cup with a 15-0 rout over Singapore in five innings on Wednesday at The Villages in Clark, Pampanga.
The Filipino batters ended the group stage with another abbreviated victory for a 2-0 win-loss record to advance to the super round where medals will be at stake.

The Philippines, which opened the tournament with an 11-1 win over Indonesia last Tuesday, goes up against Southeast Asian rival Thailand on Friday to start the super round among the top two teams in each of the two groups.
The Philippines also beat Thailand for the gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the same Clark venue.
John Vargas slammed a solo home run in the fifth inning where the Philippines scored six runs to end the contest. The Nationals also scored in the fourth after a close 3-0 lead.
Junmar Diarao pitched a one-hit, four-inning shutout in a starting role to set the tone for the Pinoy batters.
Lord De Vera singled and scored on a fielding error, while Kyle Soberano singled and scored on a double steal as the Philippines grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
An RBI single by Clarence Caasalan brought home Ian Marcado after he singled and stole second base to add a run for the Nationals in the third.
