CHINESE Taipei proved too much for the Philippines, scoring a 12-2 rout in an abbreviated seven-inning affair at the start of the 28th Baseball Federation of Asia-Asian Baseball Championship 2017 in New Taipei City.
The Filipino batters were able to tie the game early, with Francis Michael Gesmundo and Juan Diego Lozano scoring in the second inning before the Chinese Taipei turned on the heat.
Wu Chun Chei allowed two runs on two hits, striking out eight Filipino batters in the win.
The Philippines battles Sri Lanka on Tuesday night.
