THE Philippine Wildcats Baseball Team edged Korea, 7-6, to win the Asia Pacific Zone Championship 10-Under crown at the Phu Nhuan Stadium in Saigon.

The Filipino batters will again represent the Asia Pacific to the 2019 Pony World Series set August 2 to 5 in Youngsville, Louisiana.

The Wildcats took control early but saw its lead cut to one as the boys from Seoul put up a four-run fourth inning behind Kim Min Geon and Jung Seok Yong.

Mio Ilagan sparked a strong start that put the Philippines three runs ahead early, with Juancho Gatmaitan and Jorell Ching adding to the score in the next frame, before the Koreans rallied to make the endgame interesting.

The team, also featuring baseman Jaden de Venecia, left fielder Quinn Blume, second baseman Gelo Panopio, right fielder Ken Orata and left fielder Ethan Galvez will face the champions from the US West Zone. Other champion teams in the bracket are from the Caribbean and North Zones, with Mexico defending the title.
