SAN Francisco Giants sluggers Melky Cabrera and Pablo Sandoval blasted key hits to help lift the National League to an 8-0 romp of the American League in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game in Kansas City.
Sandoval began the rout, lining a bases-loaded triple to right field in the first inning on Wednesday (Manila time).
That triple sparked a five-run first inning for the NL All-Stars as Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers and Dan Uggla of the Atlanta Braves also slammed run-scoring hits off AL starter Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers.
Cabrera crushed a two-run home run in a three-run fourth inning and was named All-Star MVP.
NL starting pitcher Matt Cain, also of the Giants, allowed just one hit in his two-inning start to take the win.
