ADAMSON ended an eight-year drought in UAAP baseball, beating La Salle, 13-6, to sweep the Season 80 finals series on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Jerome Yenson put on a performance to remember in his final season as a Falcon, starting off Adamson’s comeback from a 0-5 deficit after the top of the third inning.

Yenson also pitched in relief, eventually winning the finals MVP plum after yielding two runs on nine hits, while striking out six batters in seven innings of play.

The Falcons won the UAAP crown for the first time since 2010 on a team led by former national team pitcher Romeo Jasmin.

“Matagal tagal din. Mabuti naibalik namin ngayon. Sana, sa susunod na season, contender kami lagi sa finals,” said Adamson coach Orlando Binarao.

A two-run single by Yenson got Adamson going before Kyle Villafrana also had a two-run single of his own to cut La Salle’s lead to 5-4.

A sacrifice fly by Yenson an another two-run single by Villafrana put the Falcons ahead, 7-5, and never looked back as Yenson took over from the mound from there.

“Mabuti at maganda pinalo ng mga bata. ‘Yun ang talagang pinaghandaan namin. Parehas ang pitcher na pinagtatamaan kaya labanan ng hitting ‘to,” said Binarao.

Adamson won Game One in seven innings, 14-4, on its way to the sweep.

The Falcons finished second after the elimination round with a 7-3 record behind the Green Archers, who topped with a 9-1 slate.
