Dio Remollo belted a two-run homer in the second inning to lift the Dumaguete Uni-bikers to a 12-5 victory over Taguig Patriots Sunday morning to gain a share of the lead in Baseball Philippines Series 9 at the Parade Grounds in Clark Freeport Zone.
Remollo’s blast fuelled the Uni-bikers' five-run assault in the second as they pulled away from the Patriots and earn a share of first place with Cebu, which defeated the Alabang Tigers, 9-7, for an 8-3 win-loss slate.
Manila solidified its hold of third place after defeating the Batangas Bulls, 6-2, improving to 7-4 overall.
After Karl Peralta and Pelos Remollo walked to lead off the second, Ferdinand Liguayan drilled a double to clear the bases. Mike Gante singled home Liguayan before Dio Remollo homered to give the Uni-bikers an 8-1 lead.
The Dolphins took full advantage of the Tigers inept fielding in a four-error fourth inning which resulted in four runs for a 6-0 lead.
Alabang came back with Matt Laurel blasting a home run in the ninth with no outs to cut the deficit to two runs, 9-7. But Cebu reliever Christian Maghanoy put away the final three outs to complete the victory.
